OPEN-36
The specification carries no history; there is no legacy appendix.
What was open
An informative legacy appendix (legacy.md) described surfaces and readings the specification had dropped and told a reader how to treat them when they turned up. Every entry was one implementation's history or migration advice, and two asked every implementation to tolerate an old form: reading dynamicInputs as dynamicParameters, and accepting, keeping and warning about a condition on an edge (EDGE-8). The specification is used to write new implementations, and none of them needs either.
Decision
The specification states what is required now and nothing about what was required before or how to treat old forms. Why something changed is recorded in the ruling that changed it; what an implementation does about its own stored data and callers is in that implementation's release notes, in the major release that adopts the change (DR-20). The legacy appendix is removed, and DR-7 and DR-20 say so. EDGE-8 is withdrawn: a condition on an edge is a member of the edge's data, which carries no execution logic (OPEN-32), so it needs no rule of its own. This reverses the part of the K1 decision D-03 that sent tolerated old input to a legacy appendix; the rest of D-03 stands.
