# BR-5 — Branch gating applies to trigger and data edges alike

## The rule

> **Normative.** This is the rule.
>
> 1. Branch gating applies to an edge regardless of the kind of port it arrives at.
>
> 2. A trigger edge and a data edge leaving the same gated port are both gated, on the same test.
