# SCH-7 — An output is exposed unless the node type says otherwise

## The rule

> **Normative.** This is the rule.
>
> 1. A declared output survives into a node's metadata unless the node type marks that output not exposed.
>
> 2. Where the node type says nothing about it, the output is exposed: the default is fail-open.
